Tips for Handling an Automotive Emergency

There's no need to dread an unexpected breakdown. While they're never going to be fun, there are preparations you can make before one happens that will take most of the pain out of breaking down.

Practice changing a tire and periodically check things like headlights, antifreeze fluid levels, tire pressure, and battery charge. One of the most common breakdowns is a flat tire, so make sure you understand how to use your vehicle's jack, and keep the tools for changing a tire always with you. You'll also want a small kit that includes things like a flashlight, batteries, a first aid kit, jumper cables, and flares or a triangle warning sign. Make sure you get your car as far from the road and onto the shoulder as you can if it does break down.

Our qualified mechanics at Lincoln of La Porte can conduct any emergency repairs you may need and can help keep your car current on all of its routine maintenance.
